The respondent was a 24-years-old man from Pakistan. He tried to cross the border between Serbia and Hungary near Horgos. He was part of a 4 person group, 2 were Tunisian and 2 were Pakistani.
The respondent recalls that 8 men in what he describes as military uniforms with black ski masks were waiting for them shortly after they crossed the border. The officers told the transit group to “stay there and sit down.” “They treated us like animals”. Then, 4-5 men in uniform the respondent identifies as Hungarian police officers arrived. He explained that they were treated like animals saying to them “don’t look up, don’t look up”.
People on the move were hit in the face. The officers “broke their arms, cut their hands” [of the transit group]. The respondent described that was a lot of bleeding. The officers took the mobile phones, food, power bank, and money of the transit group.
After that, the police took them with an other group of people and put them in a bus to the immigration border gate and let them there telling them to go. They came back to were they stayed walking: “They just don’t care, they pushed us back hiting us”.
