Around the 14th of February 2023 (the respondent was not able to remember the exact date, but he was sure it was aroun 13th/14th February) a group of 4 Moroccan people got pushed back from Croatia to Serbia. The respondent, a Moroccan young man aged around 20 years old, reported that the group left the Serbian town of Šid walking and crossed the border to Croatia, where they started walking in the direction of the bus station of Tovarnik.
According to the respondent, they were stopped in a field close to Tovarnik bus station by 4 people that he identified as Croatian police officers, that arrived there driving a police van. The respondent described their uniforms as dark blue with the word ‘Policija’ written on the back in white, and Croatian police patch on the arm. This description could likely match the uniforms usually worn by Regular Croatian police officers or Border Croatian police officers.
The respondent stated that the officers got out the van and started beating the group members with their batons, slapping and punching them in their faces. Also, he mentioned that their power banks were taken by the officers.
Eventually, they were loaded in the van (that the respondent could not further describe) and drove to the Croatian-Serbian border crossing in Tovarnik.
