On Tuesday, the 21st of June 2022, 3 men and 1 unaccompanied minor were apprehended in Hungary and pushed back to Romania, and then to Serbia.
The respondent reports that the group of 4 crossed the border between Serbia and Romania at around 5 p.m. Then, they walked into Romania, heading to Hungary. They crossed the Hungarian border, and continued walking for 250 meters. Then the respondent reported that they saw 5 officers coming from Romania, with a dog, all running towards the group. The officers were reportedly wearing black uniforms, with a Romanian flag on their shoulder. The respondent states that they were ‘Romanian police officers’ intervening in Hungarian territory.
The respondent explained that the 4 men tried to hide, laying in the grass. When the Romanian officers shouted at them “stop, go back“, they obeyed. The respondent, as well as the other 3 men, stood up, and started walking in the direction of Romania, but the officers reportedly pushed them violently with their hands and kicked them with their feet anyway. One of the 4 men fell on the ground.
They were then brought back to the road DJ682, in Romanian territory, where 4 ‘police cars’, including 2 ‘jeeps’, were parked. They were forced to continue walking, followed by the 4 cars, to the Serbian border.
