On the 23rd of June, around 1am, a group of people who started their journey from Horgos was arrested on the border with Hungary close to Horgos and suffered from physical violence.

The respondent explains a group of 15 people crossed the first border fence and arrived on the path between both fences. At this moment at least 3 black SUV arrived. He says they used pepper spray against people and shot rubber bullets as well. The respondent was not hit by the rubber bullets but after taking this testimony we met one person with a mark of the impact of these bullets in his back. According to the respondent at least 2 people were hit but he also emphasizes he couldn’t see everything because he was himself being beaten.

The officers shouted him to stop so he did, they made him lay down, face to the ground and hands behind the back. He explains three soldiers then started to beat him everywhere with their fists, boots and batons. He was especially kicked in the ribs which resulted in at least one broken rib on his left chest.

Then they grabbed him by his clothes to make him stand. They searched him, tied his hands with plastic ties and put him in one of the black cars, alone with three soldiers. They drove towards Horgos 2 border crossing. There he was questioned (where he is from, where he is going etc), searched, and photographed. Then send back alone to Serbia through a gate in the border fence (46.175995, 19.975927) around 5am.
