At 2 am on October 3, 2018, the group of 18 were walking from Serbia to Croatia.

They had already walked about 15 km after the Serbian border, when a police car with two officers appeared. Five minutes later, two more cars arrived with six other officers, all wearing uniforms.

These eight Croatian officers then took all their phones, 15 in total, and destroyed them. Afterwards, they ordered the 18 of them to return by foot to the town of Sid in Serbia.

So the 18 individuals walked back around four hours to Sid.
