On the 4th of July a group of men, including minors, were abused for hours by Hungarian military before being pushed back to Serbia.
The respondent, a 17 years old Tunisian man, explains the group started their journey from Horgos. They crossed the border fences and were walking in the forest when Hungarian officers ffound them, after road 55.
“The police didn’t beat, the ones in blue. They tied our hands with plastic ties, groups of 3 people tied together. They made us walk and gave us to another group.”
“They put us on the ground, face down, in a place full of rocks. We stayed like this for 5 hours and they beat us. You can’t look anywhere. They shout all the time “You face down! Put your face down!”. 5 hours like this with our faces on the ground. You hear “Aïe! Aïe!”, you look, and they shout again “No your face down! Don’t look! Don’t look!”. They were many but I couldn’t see how many because I had to keep my face down all the time, I could just hear people shouting from pain.”
“Someone needed to go to toilet, he went and when he came back to his place, the dog (German or Belgian shepherd) with a muzzle was barking and jumping at him. The man was so scared, and the soldiers were laughing. Ok it has a muzzle, but it is very very scary and aggressive!”
“Another thing, the phones, they don’t take them, it would be better if they did, but actually they hit it, hit it, hit it with sticks and they give you back. The money, they don’t take it, the rip the euro bills and they give it back to you.”
“They were shouting “We are white power!” “We are the white power terrorists!” and they beat us. With the stick they tell us “It’s the white power terrorists, it’s the white power we will kill you”
We were tied to each other for two hours until they cut the links saying “It’s your lucky day”.
“They also told me I was a terrorist. I am 17 so they said “Little terrorist I will kill you! We are the white power!””
“He told me “Serbia or Hungary?”. I thought he was asking me where I was at this moment, I said Hungary and he hit me I don’t know why.”
“After these 5 hours they gave us to the Serbian. They sent us back through the big gate (in the fence). Before sending us back they took pictures of us next to this big gate.”
