A Testament to Suffering

The Black Book of Pushbacks, spanning two volumes, is a compilation of hundreds of testimonies from people on the move who have faced severe human rights violations. This collection serves as a stark reminder of the inhumanity occurring at the EU’s borders.

Key Inclusions:

• 892 Testimonies: Detailing the experiences of 12,654 people

• Geographic Coverage: Accounts of violence in Italy, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, and Hungary along the ‘Balkan route,’ supplemented with maps, data, photos, and key information.

• Types of Violence: Documentation of the brutality inflicted by border agents, police forces, soldiers, and even guard dogs.

• Nature of Incidents: Many incidents are described as sadistic, merciless, humiliating, and degrading.

 

Call for Accountability

By shedding light on these atrocities, The Left MEPs and BVMN aim to hold EU institutions and member state governments accountable for the inhumane and degrading treatment of vulnerable people. This publication is a call to action for justice and humane treatment at Europe’s borders.
