11.11.2022 Velika Kladuša No Name Kitchen (45.1841461, 15.8069699) Incidents Eviction Bosnia no yes no no no 19 - 30 30 Afghanistan, Pakistan, Burundi theft of personal belongings, destruction of personal belongings, beating (with batons/hands/other)

The respondents reported that on November 11th, 2022, three informal living settlements for people on the move in Velika Kladuša and Glinica were evicted, and around 20–30 people living there were taken into Lipa camp in Bihać. The respondents were a group of people on the move who were previously staying in the different living sites.

In the morning of that day, men in police uniforms reportedly came to each of the squats and forced people on the move staying there to get on a bus, which took them to the official camp in Bihać.

The first informal settlement that was evicted had five people living in it, from Afghanistan and Pakistan. According to the respondents, 15 men in police uniforms arrived and surrounded the building. Some of the men in uniforms went inside the room where people were sleeping, told them to get up, and searched the room. One of the respondents described that the officers found a knife in the room, took it, and stabbed it into a mattress as a way of intimidating them. Then, they took them into police cars and drove for five minutes to the main road in Polje, where a bus was waiting. The respondents referred to the people in uniform as belonging to the Bosnian Special Police forces.

Thirty minutes later, another informal living site was reportedly evicted. This time, 15 to 20 people from Afghanistan and Pakistan were taken into the camp in Bihać. The respondents reported that the police arrived at 9 a.m., entered the building, kicked the doors, and forced all the people to wake up and step outside their rooms.

The respondents described that there were eight police cars, some of them on the field in front of the building and the rest on the surrounding roads, blocking the way. According to the respondents, they were threatened by the officers when they refused to leave, and at least three people on the move were then beaten:
"I told them, stop, we are not Taliban, we don’t have bombs."

As it was reported by one of the people living in the squat, the police destroyed some of the constructions and building structures. One of the officers cut the makeshift plastic window with a knife in front of the whole group. They also cut the wire connected to a battery and destroyed part of the entrance door. Finally, they reportedly kicked the stove in one of the rooms.

After that, reportedly, the group was forced into a bus on the closest road. They described that the information given to them was not always clear, as they were told at the beginning that they would be taken to the camp in Sarajevo, and then to Lipa camp in Bihać. The respondents reported that the bus stopped on the way and picked up people from other living sites.

The third eviction took place in an informal living site in Glinica, 20 km from Velika Kladuša, where police were reported to have arrived during the same morning and taken the people staying there to the camp. The number of people evicted was not confirmed, but it was believed to be between 3- 8 people.

After the evictions, the three sites were reportedly damaged: personal belongings were on the floor, the blankets trashed, and rubbish thrown all over the place. The rooms did not look usable anymore. Moreover, some of the blankets were wet, and the stoves and solar panels installed by another organisation had been taken away, and some of them destroyed.
