The respondent is a 25-year-old man from Morocco. He described that, on the night between November 4th and 5th, he was severely beaten and kicked by four people he identified as Serbian police officers.
He was next to the Serbian-Hungarian border around midnight with a group of other people, when several Serbian police officers appeared, and they decided to hide. The other people in the group managed to cross to the other side of the fence, but he was found and apprehended by the officers.
“They saw me, they started beating me, with everything, sticks, boot camps… oh my god, they were beating me everywhere. Four against one is too much, you know? They were asking me where were the others, and I was trying to say to them that I didn’t know... but they weren’t speaking English or they were pretending not to understand so they started to beat me in my head. I told them, please beat me everywhere but not in my head.”
After this severe beating, the respondent fainted for what felt like half an hour and was then told by the officers to go away. He described that he walked for some minutes but then fainted again, due to the injuries sustained. He remembers that some other Moroccan people found him and helped him to walk for a while.
According to the respondent, the officers stole his money, food, and a power bank.
“I just want to say that life is not fair. I ask them, why you are killing us and beating us? If you catch us just take us back, no problem, but please don’t kill us.”
