The respondent was a man from Afghanistan. He reported that on December 27th, 2022, at approximately 10:00 a.m., a group of people wearing black uniforms arrived at the informal living site where he stayed near the city of Sombor to evict it. He described that the men staying there were gathered in one place for a while.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., 30 people were forced to get into a minibus, which the respondent describes as being very overcrowded, with people "on top of each other." The minibus drove to a larger abandoned factory in Sombor, which was also being evicted.
Once they arrived at this second site, the people in the minibus were reportedly put on larger buses to be transported to Preševo camp in the south of the country — though they were not informed of the destination.
After what was described as around six hours of driving, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the respondent witnessed a man asking many times to urinate. He reportedly told the officers that he is diabetic and needed to urinate. The officers refused several times and started kicking and hitting this man with batons on the head and body. The respondent did not describe the length of time the attack lasted.
The respondent asked the two male officers who were attacking the man if they were Christian and said:
"Didn’t Jesus tell you to show mercy?"
After this, one of the attackers said "fuck you" and delivered one blow on the back of the respondent’s head with his baton.
