The respondent, a young Syrian man, reported that on the morning of March 15th, 2023, 2 vehicles, which he identified as a German and Serbian police cars, arrived at the living site where he stayed, by the riverside near the Serbian village of Srpski Krstur. According to the respondent, there were 15-20 people on the move at the living site, mostly of Syrian nationality.

The respondent described that the officers destroyed much of the infrastructure of the informal camp, including the tents and used physical violence against people on the move. None of them were evicted that day. The respondent reported that he got hit by German police officers as well as Serbian ones. At the time of the testimony, he described an injury from a beating in his abdomen and showed a mark on his face. According to his statement, he got both injuries from violence perpetrated by German police officers. 

Moreover, he reported that this had not been the first time that happened, but that they (mainly Serbian and German officers) had been coming often in the previous days, damaging personal belongings and shelter items, using physical violence, and committing theft. He reported that, in some of those times, many phones had been stolen and that the victims were then told they could only get them back in exchange for money.
