03.04.2023 Sombor Collective Aid (45.773295, 19.1151468) Incidents Eviction Serbia no yes no no no 19+ 70 Syria beating (with batons/hands/other)

The respondent is a young Syrian man who witnessed an incident of physical violence against several people on the move during an eviction of an informal living site, close to the Serbian city of Sombor on April 3rd, 2023, around 6 AM. 

He reported that around 10 cars arrived at his living site, including what he identified as police cars, police vans, and what he thought to be cars belonging to the Serbian military, as well as one big bus. He estimated there were 20 men, whom he recognized as police officers. While he managed to run away and hide, he reports seeing police officers hitting people on the move with batons. Reportedly, there were particularly 3 young men who were severely beaten and bleeding from their injuries. At the time of the testimony, the respondent showed photos of a severely bleeding head injury and another of a bleeding hand. According to the respondent, 60 to 70 people on the move were forced onto the bus and were taken to Šid at the Croatian border.
