The respondent, a man aged between 18 and 30, described a violent incident that occurred around 7 AM on July 11, 2023, at an informal living site near the Serbian city of Sombor. The incident involved a transit group of 20 individuals, including minors, from Syria and Morocco.
The respondent reported that around 20 individuals he recognized as Serbian police forcefully entered the house where he and another estimated 20 men from Syria and Morocco were sleeping. They reportedly broke the door using batons and entered a room with 5 beds where 10 people were sleeping. The respondent described that the officers then hit those on the beds with batons, including a 15-year-old minor. The boy received an injury to his shoulder, so severe that he still couldn't move it 3 days later. Another man was reportedly hit so hard on his neck that he fell unconscious. According to the respondent, the officers then stole money, phones, and power banks from the rooms.
The officers came in 5 cars, and 10 people on the move were subsequently taken away to an unknown location.
