The respondent is a young man from Afghanistan between the age of 19-30. He reported being apprehended on 09.07.2020, at around 12:30 pm. Immediately after he jumped the plexiglass fence encircling the port of Patras, he was spotted by a Private Security patrolling car that stopped him and asked for his phone and papers. The respondent was apprehended by two private security officers, one between the age of 40-50 and one 50+. One of the officers put the phone on the ground and stepped on it, then, after he was sure that it was not working anymore, he gave it back to the respondent. Subsequently, the private security guard told the respondent to follow them and that he would be detained for one day. When he arrived in the detention structure inside the port, he was asked to sign a document in Greek. Even though he cannot speak Greek, he stated that this paper confirmed he received three food and water meals. In reality, he just received a sandwich and a half- liter bottle of water.
