The respondent is a young man from Afghanistan aged 19-30.
He reported being apprehended on 11.7.2020, around 13:30 by one Port Private Security officer while hiding over a truck. After confiscating his papers and telephone, he was arrested and brought to a detention structure located inside the port. While detained, one of the private security officers entered the room where he was sitting and, despite the fact he was handcuffed with his hands behind his back -so, defenseless- he slapped his face repeatedly and punched him on his abdomen and body. The private security officer that assaulted the respondent while he was handcuffed was described as bald. The detention lasted three days, during which he was given one sandwich and one half-liter bottle of water per day. During the interview, the respondent stated that he was asked to sign a paper written in Greek everyday. He described that the paper certified that he received three meals per day. Before being released, he was given back his papers and phone, which was broken and not functioning anymore.
