The respondent is a young man from Afghanistan. He describes entering the port area of Patras around 2 PM on Sunday, August 30th, 2020. He reports overcoming the barriers surrounding the perimeter of the port area and trying to throw himself under a truck. "It was all very fast because the police officer on duty at the time saw me and yelled at me to get immediately out from under the truck". The respondent explains that he was verbally insulted with exclamations like "fuck Islam", "fuck Afghans", "fuck Mohammed" and "fuck your family".  He describes being confronted by a police officer wearing a blue police uniform with a baton, who forced him to hand over his documents and phone. At that point, the officer violently threw the phone on the ground, immediately shattering the screen. "The policeman then kicked the phone and made it slide for several meters. I picked it up right after ripping my papers out of the officer's hands, I was afraid he would have kept them. I then headed towards the exit of the port, climbing back over the barricades that I had passed a few minutes earlier. I walked back with a lot of anger and frustration at how we are treated every day”.
