The respondent is a 32-year-old man fron Afghanistan who testified about the violence described below. He describes being violently hit by one of the private security guards on duty in the Port of Patras, on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020, around 17:30.

"I entered the port area at 5.30 in the afternoon after being able to overcome the two barriers that stand in front of the port. I slipped under a truck that was positioned above a truck scale. I was down there for about 20 minutes and the truck moved until it reached the check-in/scanner area". The respondent reports that once he reached the check-in area he saw the arrival of two port agents who walked around the perimeter of the truck. "They were on both sides and they saw me. They ordered me to get out and at that point I had no choice but to carry out their order. I went out and found myself in front of a tall man, with little hair. I remember he was wearing military pants”. In addition to it, the respondent describes that he was violently punched on the left cheekbone by the officer. "He hit me and told his colleague, who joined him a few seconds later and asked him what had happened, that I had hurt myself while waiting under the truck”.

Finally, the respondent says that the private security guards did not help him in any way: "They told me to get out and so I did".
