01.12.2020 Port of Patras No Name Kitchen (45.7908691, 15.9976521) Incidents Street Violence (state actors) Greece no yes no no no 1 Afghanistan hit with a car

The respondent of this testimony is a young man from Afghanistan, aged between 19 and 30 years old.

He was in the parking lot of the New Port of Patras in the evening of December 1st, around 8pm. He described walking around looking for a spot to hide in when, all of a sudden, a vehicle, described as a white car, hit him with the intention of running over him. The respondent fell on the ground and hurt his right leg.  “He saw me and he pushed the accelerator. The next time he will kill me.” The respondent shared that, with the fear still in his body, he got up from the floor as fast as he could and ran away from the site, while the perpetrator remained in the car.

“When we see him [the perpetrator] we always go outside [of the port], but this time he was hidden in the car, I did not see him there”. The respondent described him as “the security guard of the dog, and green/blue eyes”. “He is thin and has very little hair”. He was reportedly the only one inside the white vehicle.

Additionally, this port security guard has been described by many people on the move as the most dangerous, “an animal”. The attributes are always the same: green/blue eyes, usually with a dog who attacks brutally under order, and very violent and aggressive. Furthermore, he is also often verbally violent, insulting the religious beliefs of people on the move. “He says bad language about my religion, about my God”. Many claimed to be very scared of him and his abuses.
