The respondent is a man from Afghanistan aged 19-30. The respondent reported that, on October 26th, at approximately 15:45, he was on the road in front of an informal settlement close to the New Port of Patras, when a police car started to approach him, fastly accelerating.
In order to avoid the car, the respondent entered the abandoned ground that lies in front of the factory building, where several people on the move live. He described that, once inside, the officer in the car attempted to run him over. According to the respondent, the car accelerated in a straight line at a fast and dangerous speed. He reports that had he not jumped towards the side, he would have been hit by it and doubtlessly severely injured. “They wanted to kill me!” He explained thirty minutes after the incident, his hands still visibly shaking.
He further described that at the same time that this was happening, there was another police officer walking into the abandoned building, thus witnessing the incident without preventing it.
