BVMN’s UN Advocacy Team is seeking dedicated volunteers to join us as UN Advocacy Officers! If you are interested in human rights and want to make a tangible impact on international policies, this is a unique opportunity to be involved in our work bringing evidence of mass human rights violations against people on the move to the attention of key UN bodies.

To date, our team has helped negotiate UN Human Rights Council Resolutions, supported the development of UN General Recommendations, and helped establish pushbacks as a unique and definable human rights issue actionable under the mandate of 8 out of the 10 UN treaty bodies. As part of the UN Advocacy Team, you will play a vital role in continuing this work, holding governments accountable and advocating for the rights of refugees and migrants within the UN system.

Key Tasks:

- Assist in the production of written evidentiary submissions to UN treaty bodies, UN Special Rapporteurs or other International Human Rights Bodies.

- Draft speeches, briefs or reports to be used during UN fora and events.

- Attend the weekly, UN Advocacy Team Meeting (currently: Wednesday, 19h30-20h30 CET).

- Assist other BVMN teams in UN-related advocacy tasks including research, production of advocacy output, and facilitating contact with UN bodies.

- Participate in United Nations meetings, including by delivering statements or evidence to Committees, diplomatic missions or high-level political forums.

What we offer

- Ongoing training, skills development and support.

- See the direct impact of your advocacy work in international human rights bodies and policy.

- Get the opportunity to attend high-level UN events and fora to fight for migrant and human rights internationally.
