The group of four was walking inside the Croatian territory. They had just crossed a river and then took a break. As they were about to start walking again, one police officer came up to them. Due to his green camouflage uniform, it is likely that he was a member of the Croatian Special police. Reportedly he walked towards them with his gun drawn and asked them to stop. The group complied and stopped. The officer then led them to a road nearby. The respondent recalls that the officer allowed them to drink and smoke while they waited for over an hour for a police van that he had ordered. The respondent said that he was unable to provide exact locations as he was following others in his group and only knew that they had walked for several hours during the day and night.

When the white police van arrived a policeman dressed in a dark blue uniform, with “policija” written on it, came out and took the mobile phone from each person in the group and brought them to the van. They were then asked to sit in the back of the van. After a short time, the police van stopped and four more people were brought in. These reported that their phones had been destroyed shortly before they had to get into the van. The reporting person recalled that it was very warm in the back of the van and that the authorities drove recklessly. The respondent stated: „My friend wants to vomit“ because of the reckless driving. When the van stopped on the Croatian side near Glinica, one of the two police officers opened a door of the van and asked the group to get out one by one.

After each person got out, the door was closed again. The respondent recalled that after he got out, he had to take out his shoes and jacket. After that, some authorities began to strike him and search him. While the other officers stood at the side. They were all wearing ski masks and holding batons in their right hand and an electric taser in their left. After one authority had finished beating him, the officer in the ski mask lashed out wíth his baton and aimed at his head. The respondent raised his arm to protect his head and the baton hit him on the arm near the elbow. The respondent described how after the blow he started running towards the forest, to which he had previously turned his back. The group met again in the forest and members of the group reported that the police had also used the electric taser. The group of four then began to walk together through the forest towards Glinica, BiH.
