The respondent is a fifty-nine-year-old man from Egypt. On the morning of October 30th, at around 3:00 a.m., a group of five people (four Moroccans and one Egyptian) crossed into Hungary. After walking for a kilometre or two into Hungary, three Hungarian border patrol officers reportedly apprehended the group. The officers detained the group in an unknown location for three hours, during which time, they reportedly beat them with batons as well stole their cellphones and money. The respondent explained that he had 250 euros stolen from him, and was severely beaten by the officers and suffered injuries to his knee and hands (see photos). The man now walks with a noticeable limp. The officers also reportedly damaged his coat, cutting away large swaths off it with scissors. Between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m., the officers reportedly returned the group to Serbia.
